Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D-3) will be on hand when the Leadership Academy Magnet Program of Mill Creek Elementary holds a special ceremony on Monday, June 1st.
Woolridge has been selected by students of the program to administer the oath of office for the first ever National Elementary Honor Society induction and installation of Student Council officers for the 2009-2010 school year.
There are 75 students who are involved in the program representing all areas of Metro Louisville.
“I am honored to be selected for this important task,” says Woolridge. “These students may someday be the future leaders of our community and we should honor their achievements whenever we can.”
Woolridge will join Mill Creek’s Principal Michelle Pennix at the ceremony which begins at 6:30pm. Mill Creek Elementary is located at 3816 Dixie Highway. Principal Pennix says “this is a dressy-attire occasion for our students and their families”.
“When you take an oath, you pledge to do the best you can and uphold a set of ideals for the common goal,” says Woolridge. “I will be happy to administer this oath.”
