Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge is partnering this summer with the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival to bring a unique educational program to children in District 3. “Sizzlin Shakespeare in Algonquin Park” will give children a chance to learn about one of the most famous authors in literature: William Shakespeare.
“The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival has developed a wonderful program which is a unique opportunity to enjoy a hands-on approach to the arts,” says Woolridge. “I hope children will take advantage of this program.”
“Sizzlin Shakespeare in Algonquin Park” will take place on June 23rd and July 13th. The featured Shakespeare play will be “The Twelfth Night.” It begins at 12:00pm on both days. The performances will be free to the public. There will also be educational workshops offered on both days for children.
On June 23rd, there will be a performance of “The Twelfth Night.” The focus of the workshops will be Drawing Shakespeare and Acting Shakespeare. On July 13th, following the performance of the Twelfth Night, workshops will focus on Fighting Shakespeare and Dancing Shakespeare
“Education is important to our children but we also must remember the importance of the arts and this program appears to be a fun way for them to learn, “says Woolridge.
Algonquin Park is located at 1614 Cypress Street.
