Louisville – School has been in session for more than a week in Jefferson County and one Metro Councilman is planning a Back-to School Party.

“Other Council members have had success and fun with this kind o fan event, so we wanted to see if kids in our District would like it,” said Councilman Rick Blackwell (D) 12.

The Back-to-School Pool Party will be held on Friday, August 25th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Southwest YMCA. The “Y” is located at 2800 Fordhaven Road.

”I wanted to generate some excitement about going back to school since the school year is so new,” said Blackwell. “It is a tough time for some kids and this might be away to break the ice and help them get back into the swing of things.”

Admission to the party is free. There will also be free pizza and drinks for kids and their parents.”

“We hope the kids will have some fun, and if their parents would like to talk to me about a program or problem in the district, I will be there to listen,” said Blackwell.
