We see it on television, in the news and as the subject of made-for-TV movies. It makes its way into popular songs and videos. Yet what is the real impact of teen dating violence? How does it affect young people and families right here in our community, and more importantly, what can we do to address this growing problem?
This is exactly what organizers aim to get at by hosting a community town hall forum on how to prevent teen dating sexual violence. The event will take place Wednesday, June 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fairdale High School. All community members are invited to attend the free event, where there will be opportunities to share your experiences and hear from others affected by this serious and growing problem.
This forum is funded by a grant from Catholic Health Initiatives and awarded to The Center for Women and Families and Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace. It will be held in partnership with The Louisville Metro Coalition to Prevent Teen Dating Violence, Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey-Welch (D-13) and Fairdale Community School. Light refreshments will be provided.
For more information, contact Councilwoman Welch’s office at 574-1113.
