Abramson Recognizes Fast Growing Inner City 100 Companies

Monday May 17, 2010

Two Louisville companies have been named to the Inner City 100 list, which each year recognizes the fastest-growing 100 inner city companies in the United States.

Pro-Liquitech International placed 84th and Consumer Choice Coffee placed 93rd. Both businesses are located in the Park Hill neighborhood of West Louisville, an area the city is helping revitalize.

“Both Pro-Liquitech and Consumers Choice have invested millions of dollars in their facilities and have created jobs, even during these tough economic times,” Mayor Jerry Abramson said today during a visit today to Consumers Choice Coffee on 12th Street. “This honor is a testament to the companies’ leaders and their employees.”

Consumers Choice was founded in 1971 and roasts coffee and supplies coffee and tea to numerous retail stores and restaurants in the region. Pro-Liquitech was created in the early 1990s when Dave Dafoe left his corporate position at Brown-Forman to start a beverage development company that now has clients including Ocean Spray and Starbucks, among many others.

The Inner City 100 is an annual list created by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City. The list helps highlight the importance of growing jobs and businesses in the urban cores of American cities.

“Pro-Liquitech and Consumers Choice Coffee exemplify the kinds of businesses helping the city emerge from the recession poised for growth,” said Joe Reagan, President and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. – The Metro Chamber of Commerce. “These two West Louisville companies, both part of the region’s developing food and beverage niche, show the energy present in our urban core, especially the Park Hill corridor. We can be proud that our community’s economic success is being shared across the city.”
