The Louisville Metro Council’s Health and Human Services Committee will hold a special meeting on Monday, January 7th at 1:00pm to discuss the proposed smoking ordinance.
Committee Chairwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3 has invited Dr. Adewale Troutman, Director of the Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness Department and the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office to discuss the proposed smoking ban ordinance.
“This will be a chance for members of the committee and other Council members to ask questions about the new version of the ordinance,” says Woolridge. “We intend to be thorough in our review as we move forward following the recent court decision.”
On December 21st, 2007 Jefferson Circuit Judge Stephen Ryan struck down the ordinance passed in 2006 that banned smoking in public buildings with an exemption for Churchill Downs.
The meeting will be carried live on Metro TV, Insight Cable Channel 25.
