Metro Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21) will continue to serve on the National League of Cities 2010 Transportation Infrastructure and Services Steering Committee after being selected for second year as a member.
“I look forward to continuing the work of this committee as we continue to monitor the rebuilding of our nation’s infrastructure.” said Johnson. “Many people may not realize that large amounts of federal stimulus money are being used for reconstruction and rebuilding of our roads and transit system. It’s a top priority for this committee.”
The Transportation Infrastructure & Services (TIS) Committee is responsible for all policy on transportation issues, including planning, funding, safety and security of public transit, streets and highways, aviation, railroads and ports.
Johnson is currently a member of the Metro Council’s Transportation and Public Works Committee. In the past, he has advocated revisiting the use of light rail in Metro Louisville and improved communications of public utilities in times of emergency.
‘This is also an opportunity to keep in close contact with our Congressional Delegation and let Washington know what our needs of cities in looking to the future,” said Johnson.
The Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee will met in March to begin planning for the coming year.
