Mayor Jerry Abramson, The Hogan Group and The Cordish Company today announced the addition of Rascals Comedy Club and Funky Parrot to the 4th Street Live! district.
“The addition of Rascals Comedy Club to 4th Street Live! brings national live entertainment and will be a tremendous draw for the district,” said Reed S. Cordish, Vice President of The Cordish Company.
“I’m pleased to announce the addition of two exciting venues to the diverse mix of entertainment options at 4th Street Live!,” Abramson said. “The excitement about this development in the heart of our downtown continues to grow.”
Rascals Comedy Club is a 4,500-square-foot venue that will feature both regional and national acts. Performers at other Rascals Comedy Clubs have included Ray Romano, Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld among other national names. Rascals Comedy Club will be located on the 2nd Floor of the development’s west side and will accommodate about 300 patrons per performance.
Rascals Comedy Club is a publicly traded company owned by Rascals International. It sells as RSCA and is traded OTCBB. Other Rascals Comedy Club locations include New York, New Jersey and Arizona.
“Rascals Comedy Club will bring quality national comedic talent to the Louisville market and offers a great draw for downtown," said Silver Gordon, spokesperson for Rascals. “We believe Louisville is a great expansion market for this concept and feel 4th Street Live! is the logical fit for us.”
Funky Parrot is a tropical themed bar with an indoor area with games, pool tables, television monitors and a dance floor with a DJ on weekends and a spacious outdoor balcony that will offer a great spot to watch concerts and other events and promotions taking place on 4th Street.
Funky Parrot will occupy 5,500-square-feet on the 2nd floor of the project’s west side and will be accessible both from the ground and 2nd floor levels.
“Funky Parrot will be a fun, relaxed perch for people to gather, socialize and watch the excitement on 4th Street,” said Reed S. Cordish, Vice President of The Cordish Company.
Funky Parrot is owned by JP 4th Street Live LLC. This will be the inaugural Funky Parrot location.
Rascals Comedy Club and Funky Parrot join Hard Rock Café, Red Star Tavern, McFadden’s Bar and Restaurant, Borders Bookstore, Friday’s, Premier Fitness and Red Cheetah as tenants announced thus far. The Cordish Company will make additional entertainment tenant announcements shortly.
4th Street Live! will feature a dramatic glass ceiling, which will span 4th Street offering an outdoor canopy for events and promotions. It also will include outdoor seating for the restaurants and a performance stage for live entertainment. A multi-floor outdoor center bar area will be the gathering place for the project and will contain a multi-level television tower showing sporting events, news and music videos. The center bar area will look out onto the center of 4th Street and be situated across from a stadium quality giant LED screen.
4th Street Live! will reopen the street to vehicular traffic on a regular basis, creating Louisville’s largest entertainment space. The combination of entertainment, retail and nightlife with imaginative and innovative design will create a unique and vibrant destination.
Construction is proceeding on schedule with an initial opening slated in the spring.
