WHO: Public meeting on proposed school bus compound
WHAT: The previous proposed school bus site at Fern Creek High School was defeated by residents last year. The new proposed site is on narrow Beulah Church Road next to Victory Baptist Church.
WHEN: 7 p.m. Monday, February 3
WHERE: Teamsters Hall, Local 783, 7711 Beulah Church Road
Councilman James Peden, District 23, is concerned that residents are not aware of the meeting.
“This is a narrow stretch of road that already is congested,” Peden said. “The road is the main outlet for GE workers to travel to the interstate, and also contains traffic from Highview School.
“I am concerned that people who would like to raise concerns do not realize that a meeting will be held Monday. I encourage people to attend the meeting.”
Peden and Councilman Robin Engel, District 22, will be walking door-to-door Sunday before the meeting to alert neighbors. The proposed site is in District 23 but close to the District 22 border. It is next to Victory Baptist Church, would affect the nearby neighborhoods of Adam’s Run, Zelma Fields, Farmgate and Apple Valley as well as the small cities of Cedar Creek and Hollow Creek.
