Councilman Hawkins to Participate in September 11th Ceremony

Councilman Doug Hawkins (District 25) will participate in a ceremony on Friday, September 7, 2007  at 10:30 a.m. at Iroquois Park (at the new playground area) to remember the victims of September 11th and mark the half way point in a Louisville man’s quest to run 131 marathons to raise money for injured marines.

Councilman Hawkins will present a proclamation to Mr. Brad Alsop who has reached the half way point in his quest to run 131 marathons in 131 days to raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. (Over $14,000 has been raised thus far).

Speakers include: State Senator Dan Seum, Metro Councilman Doug Hawkins, Ret. 2 Star General Robert (Bob) Silverthorn, Col. Chris Smrt the Commander of the Kentucky Order of the Purple Heart and Jeff Klusmeier with the Support our Troops Coalition.  And special guest: Trumpet Player Dick Martin (TAPS, AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL).
