As Summer winds down, Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) will continue a tradition for children and their families in the area as they get ready for a new school year.
“Every year I look forward to hosting this event as a way for families to have a little more fun before its time to hit the books at school,” says Ward-Pugh.
The 9th Annual District 9 Back to School Block Party will be held on Friday, August 15th at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The Center is located at 201 Reservoir Road, off Frankfort Avenue.
The Fifth Division of Louisville Metro Police will also be at the event with the Kid’s ID program and Mounted Patrol Officer Bill White and his horse, Lance. There will also be officers from the Bike Patrol to talk about bike safety.
There will be free swimming and refreshments. Mother’s Cookies are donating something sweet. Havana Cola is donating drinks. Papa John’s is providing pizza and some of the door prizes. The door prizes include goodie bags and tickets to see the Louisville Riverbats.
The party will also feature fun and games for the kids.
“This will be a chance to see some of the recent improvements that have been made in and around the Aquatics Center,” says Ward-Pugh. “But the main thing is for everyone to have fun.”
