Mayors Put Up Bourbon, Sweets on Orange Bowl Game
Tuesday December 26, 2006
Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson and Winston-Salem (NC) Mayor Allen Joines have made a friendly wager on the outcome of the FedEx Orange Bowl on Jan. 2, which pits the University of Louisville against Wake Forest University.
If Louisville wins, Abramson will receive a package of North Carolina-made goodies including Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Old Salem cookies and a Hanes sweatsuit.
If Wake Forest wins, Joines will get a supply of Kentucky bourbon, including bottles of Maker’s Mark and Brown-Forman’s Woodford Reserve.
“After Louisville wins and I polish off all those doughnuts and cookies, I’ll need the sweatsuit and a few morning jogs,” Abramson said. “I hope Mayor Joines remembers to send the suit in the right colors – red and black.”
