Like many areas around Metro Louisville, volunteers and groups in District 4 are ready for this Saturday’s Brightside Community Wide Cleanup. Councilman David Tandy (D-4) is encouraging everyone who can to come out and help.

“Every year, Brightside provides the opportunity for citizens of all ages to show just how proud they are of this City. By taking the time to clean a street, we just might encourage someone else to follow suit,” says Tandy. “ It is my hope that our efforts this weekend will inspire everyone to embrace the pride that makes Louisville special.”

Three specific teams will be out picking up and cleaning up this weekend in three locations:

GermanParistown Neighborhood Assoc.

Teams will meet at 933 Goss Avenue. The GPNA is coordinating with Volunteers of America staff and volunteers to support an area clean up around their headquarters. Those working will drop one energy efficient light bulb those home that are aided. Cleaning will take place from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Phoenix Hill Neighborhood Assoc.

Teams of neighbors are planning to be a part of the Clean-up and will meet at New Directions Housing Corporation, 1000 E. Liberty St. at 9:30 for donuts and juice. They will then head out from 10:00am until 12:00pm to clean up around Phoenix Hill.

Lucile Leggett’s Team

A proud citizen of District, Ms. Leggett is once again offering her as the central location for a cleanup. Teams will meet at 536 South 22nd Street. Clean up will take place 10:00am to 12:00pm and cover city blocks up to 16th and Chestnut. Refreshments will be provided.

“My thanks go out to all the groups and volunteers of the district who are taking the time to get involved. Your time and effort are an example to others,” says Tandy.
