New online tool makes licensing fast and easy
You can buy a sweater, pay bills and send videos from your computer – why not take care of the safety of your pet, too? A new online tool allows Louisville pet owners to license their cat, dog or ferret without ever leaving home. To celebrate the new online licensing, Metro Animal Services (MAS) is waiving the licensing late fees for pets whose licenses have either lapsed or were never purchased.
“Licensing your pet is one of your most important responsibilities as a pet owner, and it could absolutely save your pet’s life,” said Jackie Gulbe, assistant director for community relations. “It insures that if a pet were lost, that pet would be sheltered in a safe environment until it is claimed by the owner. Think of a license as an insurance policy.”
Late fees range from $47.50 for altered animals to $195 for unaltered animals. Fees will be waived from November 10, 2008 through January 18, 2009. Licensing late fees will be waived only for individuals who license their animals using the online licensing tool available on the Animal Services website http://www.louisvilleky.gov/animalservices or you can go directly to the online licensing tool here.
The new MAS online pet licensing tool was developed in partnership with Louisville Metro Government and Kentucky Interactive, the Frankfort-based company which runs Kentucky.gov, the official website for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
