Miller-Cooper Named New Director of Human Relations Commission

Mayor Jerry Abramson today announced that Carolyn Miller-Cooper has been named the permanent director of the Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission.

Miller-Cooper has been serving as interim director of the agency since March.

The Human Relations Commission works to promote unity, understanding and equal opportunity among all people of Metro Louisville and to eliminate all forms of bigotry, bias and hatred from the community.

Miller-Cooper served as Assistant Director at Human Relations Commission for nearly a decade.  She replaces Kellie Watson, who took a position in Frankfort.

“We’re fortunate to have someone with Carolyn’s expertise to lead the Human Relations Commission and continue its important mission,” Abramson said.

Miller-Cooper has previous experience with the Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children and the Department of Public Advocacy.  She also has three years’ experience as an attorney in private practice.

Miller-Cooper has an undergraduate degree in from Hunter College in New York as well as law degrees from the University of Kentucky and the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California.
