Metro Parks hosting site development planning meeting for Toonerville Trolley Park
Wednesday September 21, 2011
Metro Parks and Metro Councilman David James, D-6, are hosting a public meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, September 26 at the Old Louisville Information Center, to discuss a proposed dog run at Toonerville Trolley Park, a two-acre park located in Old Louisville at the intersection of Brook and Oak streets.
The proposed dog run would be the fourth in the Metro Parks system. Other runs are located in Charlie Vettiner, Cherokee and Champions parks, as well as E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park.
The dog runs are administered by the Louisville Dog Run Association, an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to operating off-leash dog parks in Louisville Metro. Officials with the LDRA, Metro Parks, and Councilman James’ office are seeking public input to guide development at the site.
In addition to the new dog run, the creation of a walking path will be discussed.
The Old Louisville Information Center is located at 1340 S. Fourth Street.
