Once again, Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D) 9 is putting out the call for any energetic volunteers to come out, roll up their sleeves and join others in sprucing up in Ninth District.
“This fall cleanup may even be more significant because of the high winds of last week,” says Ward-Pugh. “While we were fortunate there was no significant damage, there could be plenty of downed tree limbs and trash that need our attention.”
The Ninth District Fall Clean Up will get underway on Saturday, October 27th beginning at 8:30am at the Crescent Hill Library, 2762 Frankfort Avenue.
Before any clean up work begins there will be coffee provided by Heine Brothers and Breakfast will be supplied by the Clifton McDonald’s.
At 9:00am volunteers will fan out with brooms and shovels and garbage bags provided by Brightside. The focus will be on any clogged storm sewer drains, curbs were trash may have collected and other areas were litter has become a problem.
“Last April, we had more than 40 volunteers help us do a little spring cleaning on Frankfort Avenue,” says Ward-Pugh. “It is always good to see everyone take pride in their neighborhood.”
The cleanup will last until 12:00pm. “However, if there are those who would like to stay a little longer, we will be glad to let them,” says the Councilwoman.
In the event of rain, Saturday November 3rd is the alternative date for the clean up.
