Councilwoman Madonna Flood is teaming up with health agencies to sponsor a District 24 breast cancer screening event. The screenings will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4211 Jim Hawkins Dr.

The mammograms will be conducted in partnership with the Louisville Metro Health Department, the Partnership in Cancer Control and the Kentucky Cancer Program.

The screenings are available for women age 40 and over. Insurance will be filed for women with coverage, while mammograms will be free for income-eligible women without insurance. The James Graham Brown Cancer Center will conduct the screenings

The American Cancer Society recommends that women get a mammogram annually once they are 40 years old.
