The Metro Council’s Budget Committee will take testimony from the public concerning an ordinance which calls for a financial review of the cost of local government services on Wednesday, September 19th.
“We will make equal time available for those who are for or against this ordinance,” says Councilwoman Madonna Flood (D) 24, who chairs the committee.
The committee will hear from ten speakers on each side of the issue. There will be an allotted time of three minutes per speaker. Signups to speak will be held on the day of the committee meeting between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.
The ordinance is proposed by Council members Ken Fleming (R) 7 and Tina Ward-Pugh (D) 9. It calls for a comprehensive review of the financial costs of government functions, services and activities.
The measure was introduced in February of this year.
The Budget Committee meets at 4:00pm in Council Chambers, Third Floor of Historic City Hall, 601 Jefferson Street.
