Several members of the Louisville Metro Council and P.R.I.D.E. Inc will usher in the holiday season on Thursday, November 27th with the Annual Senior’s Thanksgiving Day Dinner.
“It is the time of year to be thankful for all we have and be mindful of those in our community who maybe alone or far from their family for this holiday,” says Councilman David Tandy (D-4).
The Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be held at the Presbyterian Community Center, 701 South Hancock Street from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
Other Council Members joining Tandy and P.R.I.D.E. Inc are Judith Green (D-1), Barbara Shanklin (D-2), Mary Woolridge (D-3), Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5), George Unseld (D-6) and Dan Johnson (D-21).
“This is the time of year when we need to check up on our seniors,” says Shanklin. “Every year, this dinner has been an opportunity to have some fun and fellowship with them.”
The dinner is free of charge for persons who are 50 years old and older. There will be door prizes given away as well as entertainment for the afternoon.
“In these tough economic times, there may be those in our community who cannot afford to have a Thanksgiving dinner on a fixed income,” says Green. “Anything we can do to help our seniors is well worth the effort.”
