With summer coming to an end and a new school year getting ready to begin.
“I am excited to work with an extremely positive back to school kick off,” says Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3. “Youth Alive offers some unique events to get young people motivated for the return to school.”
Woolridge is partnering with Youth Alive for a series of Back to School events that will encourage and empower young people.
The program begins on Thursday, August 9th with a Community Clean up Project. The Clean up focuses on “giving back to your community” and rewards the participants with a barbeque. All young people in Metro Louisville are invited.
On Friday, August 10th, there will be a series of workshops open to all youth in the city dealing with learning math, writing, working with people and having a positive message about you and others.
Then on Saturday, August 11th there will be back to school giveaway of supplies for those youth who are participants in the on going Youth Alive program.
“Youth Alive has been a positive force in many children’s lives over the last few years,” says Woolridge. “It is hard to say how many children have turned their life around because someone cared. I am happy to help them in this program.”
