The Fern Creek/Highview United Ministries (FCHUM) will mark the start of construction of the FCHUM Individual and Family Assistance Center at a 2pm ceremony Thursday, December 7 2006. The construction of an assistance center on the property of Beulah Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Bardstown Road and Beulah Church Road (6704 Bardstown Road).

Thursday’s ceremonies will include participation by Rev. Ron Loughry, Metro Councilman Robin Engel (District 22) with Councilmen James Peden (District 23) and Stuart Benson (District 20) invited. Other Fern Creek/Highview business and community leaders will also be in attendance. Ceremonies will conclude with Santa Claus and his elves bulldozing a section of the property to start the construction.

When complete, the FCHUM Individual and Family Assistance Center will assist the ministries as they deliver basic human services, such as emergency financial assistance, food, clothing, medication assistance, case management and other necessary services to assist families and individuals in resolving their crisis. When complete the building will be approximately 7,500 square feet, with meeting rooms, a food pantry and counseling areas.

The FCHUM “Building to Serve” Capital Campaign was launched April 11, 2006 with a goal of raising $300,000. For more information on this event, contact Rev. Ron Loughry at 239-7407.
