Councilwoman Hamilton to encourage more neighborhood watch programs at District 5 meeting

Louisville – Law enforcement agencies all over the country credit neighborhood watch programs with being an effective way to help officers fight crime.

“We want to people to help be the eyes and ears of Metro Police,” says Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5.”The best way to do that is to show them how easy it is.”

The creation of neighborhood watch programs will be the focus of the quarterly community wide District 5 meeting on Tuesday, August 22nd , 2006. The meeting will get underway at 6:30pm at the Shawnee Golf Course, 460 Northwestern Parkway.

“We have invited the First and Second Divisions of Louisville Metro Police to talk about neighborhood watch programs and other crime prevention tips,” says Hamilton.

The Councilwoman will also give out “the Club” anti-car theft devices on a first come, first serve basis.

“We want to follow the success of our national Night Out Program on August 1st with important information on how to help usto help our officers fight crimes. our officer fight crime,” says Hamilton.

Other Department heads and agencies of Metro Government will be on hand at the meeting to answer concerns about other problems in the area.
