Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5 will present petitions to the Jefferson County Clerk on Friday, June 15th. The petitions request a special wet dry election in four precincts of the Shawnee neighborhood of District 5.

Hamilton will be joined by community leaders and residents in the area who will present the petitions at 10:30 am at the Board of Elections office, 810 Barret Avenue.

The petitions are the result of efforts in the community to stop the location of liquor stores near Shawnee High School. The petitions signed by registered voters of the affected precincts call for a special wet-dry election. These are the precincts involved: N104, N105, N107 and N109.

The community and Councilwoman Hamilton organized this effort to stop the sale of liquor, beer and malt beverages in several of their Shawnee neighborhoods

Councilwoman Hamilton and the community leaders will be available after the petitions have been presented to talk about the issue and the need for a wet-dry vote.

For more information, call Councilwoman Hamilton’s office at 574-1105.
