Turn back the clock to 1907 and it may have been easy to see a group of family and friends on summer’s day gathered at the Farnsley-Moremen House for ice cream.

“We want to give everyone the chance to have that kind of experience,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14. “We also want everyone to come and see something special in southwest Jefferson County.”

On Sunday, July 8th Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing will host an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on the banks of the Ohio River.

“This is an opportunity to help an organization that is trying to preserve our history,” says Councilwoman Vicki Welch (D) 13. “A fun afternoon has also been planned if you want to spend a lazy day on the river.”

The social will feature an ice cream eating contest, old fashion games, horse drawn carriage rides and miniature train rides.

There will also be tours of the Historic Farnsley-Moremen House built in 1837.

“This is a great way for families to spend a Sunday afternoon together,” says Metro Council President Rick Blackwell (D) 12. “I invite everyone to come out to enjoy the music, the magic and of course, the ice cream.”

Ice cream vending will be provided by Ehrler’s Ice Cream. Other foods will be provided by the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association.
