The Metro Council’s Budget Committee will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, December 17th to hear from Dr. Paul Coomes, Professor of Economics at the University of Louisville. He will discuss local, state and national revenue projections and the impact of past recessions on Metro Louisville.
“I think is important to not only understand what the future holds but how past recessions have impacted the city,” says Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) who chairs the committee.
Dr. Coomes has appeared before the committee many times over the years His expertise has been sought as the Council reviews and crafts the Metro Government’s budget every year in June.
“While we have been focused on the possible $20 million shortfall, it might be a good idea to see what else may lie ahead,” says Hamilton.
The meeting will begin at 4:00pm in Council Chambers. It will be broadcast live on Metro TV. It can also be seen live online by going to the Metro Council's homepage at www.louisvilleky.gov/metrocouncil.
