Louisville pure tap® Refreshes Spring Events

Monday April 22, 2013

Louisville Water’s branded “Louisville pure tap® to GO” fill stations will be highly visible and readily available at many of this spring’s Kentucky Derby Festival and other events to encourage people to get back to the tap and reuse their “green” bottles, pitchers and compostable cups.

“We are so pleased with the outreach and new connections we’re making with “Louisville pure tap®,” said Louisville Water Strategic Communications Manager Kelley Dearing Smith. “From its award-winning taste and environmental stewardship of refilling bottles and other environmentally friendly containers, “Louisville pure tap®” continues to represent us as one of our community’s important assets.”

Community events where “Louisville pure tap® to GO” will be available this spring are:

  • Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and Mini-marathon Routes
Sixteen water stops and over 11,000 gallons of Louisville pure tap®. Louisville Water crews set-up and oversee the hydration for Saturday’s event. This year, look for the ‘blue cup” on the route, filled with Louisville pure tap®. The cups are recyclable and make it easy to grab a drink on the go.
  • Kentucky Derby Festival Winefest
Louisville pure tap® will cleanse palates and quench thirsts as a partner of this year’s fun-filled Winefest on April 30 and May 1 on the Belvedere.
  • Kentucky Derby Festival Parade Route
Musicians, clowns and even the horses get Louisville pure tap® along the route of the parade on Thursday, May 2.
  • WFPK Waterfront Wednesday Concert Series
This is the third year that “Louisville pure tap® to GO” will be at these highly popular concerts which are staged the last Wednesdays in April through September at the Big Four Lawn on Waterfront Park, 5pm. Attendees are encouraged to buy reusable bottles on-site or bring their own and fill up for free at the mobile water unit.
  • Buy Local Fair
This event on May 11 that celebrates the local business community will only serve feature Louisville pure tap®. Bring your reusable container or buy one on site at the Louisville Water Tower from 2-8pm.
  • New Outdoor Fountains
A partnership with the Green Triangle features three new outdoor fountains in the Crescent Hill and Clifton neighborhoods. The fountains make it easy to refill a container and even include a fountain for the dogs.
