It is a great summer tradition in one of Louisville’s oldest and proudest neighborhoods. Councilman David James (D-6) will join many others on Saturday, August 27th for the annual California Community Day.
“This is a unique event for a neighborhood that knows how to come together for some fun, music and a chance to sit back and get to know one and other while making others feel welcome,” says James. “I am honored to be a sponsor of such a special day in August for the people of the California Neighborhood.”
California Community Day will get underway at California Park, 1104 South 16th Street from 9:00am until 9:00pm.
This year’s festivities include a talent show, comedy showcase and gospel extravaganza. Additional music will be provided by DJ EB. There will also be a free concert featuring The Rick James Stone City Band.
“This event will also be a chance to learn more about what is going on in the neighborhood and we will also be able to help you live a healthier life style as children begin a new school year,” says James.
Information booths about the California neighborhood and other agencies will also be on hand. This year will again feature a health fair with free screenings and free information.
California Community Day will have fun activities for the kids and families with prizes and inflatable games along with food vendors that will be on hand.
Joining Councilman James as sponsors is Pepsi, Frito Lay, B96.5 FM, Praise the Power 1350 WLOU, and Magic 101.3FM.
“There are many great neighborhoods in Metro Louisville and if you have never had the chance to experience what makes the California Neighborhood a unique and comfortable place, I would encourage you to come join us,” says James.
