Louisville – Councilman George Unseld (6) and Mayor Jerry Abramson will be among many dignitaries for a special unveiling ceremony at Leisure Park in the California Neighborhood on Friday, August 25th, 2006.

The ceremony will begin at 1:30pm at the northeast corner of Dixie Highway and Kentucky Street.

“I am looking forward to this event but I think the community is also excited,” said Unseld.

The event will see the unveiling of the Old California Marker at Leisure Park. The marker reads “Reflect, Reform, Rebuild, Renew.”

The marker is the cornerstone of a renovation effort of 20,000 square feet of park space that has now been landscaped with flowers, trees and walking paths.

“People of this neighborhood will enjoy this little corner of the world,” said Unseld. “Most have been watching this work as it has moved along. On Friday they will see it become a beautiful part of the California neighborhood.”
