For Immediate Release:
In many ways it’s like a return to the days of the local drive in during the summer. In this case, movies shown under the stars in an historic setting and lawn chairs take the place of cars.
“The people at the Crescent Hill Community Council take pride in planning neighborhood events that are not only amusing but are a chance to get out and talk with people and take it easy every now and then,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D) 9.
On July 28th, the 3rd annual Crescent Hill Outdoor Cinema Series continues with a classic: Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird”. The Pulitzer Prize winning 1960 became an Academy Award winning film in 1962.
“The movie is just as important today as is was to audiences 45 years ago,” says Ward-Pugh. “It is a great coming of age story that also deals with social justices and how we interact with people.”
The Outdoor Cinema Series takes place at the historic Peterson-Demesnil House at 301 South Peterson Avenue. Once a month during June, July and August, movies are shown as a way to enjoy the laziness of a summer evening.
Admission is free.
Ward-Pugh is a sponsor of the event. Additional sponsors include Heine Brothers Coffee, Chancery Financial Advisors, the Frankfort Avenue Business Association and F.A.T. Friday.
