In an effort to encourage neighborhood involvement to promote arts education and healthy lifestyles, Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3 is joining several groups for a new Community Festival set for this Saturday, May 17th.
“I am happy to work with any group or organization to make our neighborhoods and community a good place to live,” says Woolridge. “This is a festival that will have something for everyone.”
The Community Festival gets underway at the 18th Street Farmer’s Market, 1811 Standard Street from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
Woolridge is working with the 18th Street Farmer’s Market, A.N.I.S.A Women Community Outreach, Arts Council of Louisville, River City Drum Corp, and California Neighborhood Coalition to host the Community Festival.
Organizers are planning a book fair, arts and crafts as well as interactive demonstrations between local artists and kids. The event will also feature information about health eating and how to live a healthy life style. Information about preventing crime in neighborhoods will also be featured.
“I want to encourage everyone in District 3 to come out on Saturday afternoon and have some fun this weekend,” says Woolridge.
