Louisville – Metro Councilman Jim King (D) 10 is sending a letter to residents of West Buechel reassuring them that Metro Police will answer service while the small city deals with its financial situation.
“The Louisville Metro Police Department’s 6th Division is now responding to all calls for service within the boundaries of West Buechel,” King said in a letter that will be mailed to residents by the end of the week.
On Wednesday it was learned the city of West Buechel is experiencing financial difficulties and has chosen to lay off its police force as a cost cutting measure. More than 1300 residents of West Buechel are in District 10.
King’s letter included phone numbers for emergencies: 911, the number to dispatch an officer: 574-2111 and the direct number to the LMPD’s 6th District: 574-2187.
“I will continue to monitor the situation to ensure you are safe and secure in your neighborhood at all times,” said King.
If residents have concerns they should call: 574-1110 or email the Councilman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
