Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton will offer curbside pickup for residents affected by the hardest hit flooded areas of District 5 beginning this coming weekend.
“I have had a chance to see firsthand many areas of the District and we are moving forward with assistance for those folks who just cannot get to a drop off site,” says Hamilton. “This is a onetime pickup and we will be removing any flooding debris from the front or the back of a house.”
Working with Eco Tech Environmental and Dismas Charities, Hamilton has coordinated a pickup on Saturday, August 15th and Sunday, August 16th. The pickup will cover flood debris placed on a curb or the alley of a residence. On Saturday, the pickup will begin at 7:00am and run until 6:00pm. On Sunday, the hours will be 7:00am to 4:00pm
“This again is a onetime pickup,” says Hamilton. “I hope there are people in the community willing to help anyone who may have trouble clearing out debris from the basement or a garage. This is a time when volunteer help will go a long way for someone who is elderly or disabled.”
