It may be thought of as a group that operates only in a rural area but Jefferson County has an active Soil and Conservation District. The group will appear before the Metro Council’s Energy and Environment Committee on Thursday, May 13th at 3:00pm.

“It is important to understand the role of the Soil and Conservation District as we watch more urban growth in Metro Louisville,” says Councilman Brent T. Ackerson (D-26) who chairs the committee. “I understand they have been a very active organization for more than 60 years.”

Representatives of the Jefferson County Soil and Conservation District, which is chaired by Mr. John Colliver, will make three short presentations followed by a Q&A period. To learn more about the organization go to http://www.jeffcd.org/.

The Committee meets in Council Chambers, Historic City Hall, 601 West Jefferson Street..

It will be broadcast live on Metro TV, Insight Cable Channel 25. It will also be web streamed live. Simply go to the Metro Council’s Home page at www.louisvilleky.gov/metrocouncil. Click on the “Watch Meetings Online” icon.

The next Energy and Environment Committee meeting is scheduled for June 10th.
