Metro Council Democrats to host special Thanksgiving Dinner for area seniors

Louisville – It is a time when family and friends gather over turkey, dressing and cranberries. Some council members will continue an event to ensure area senior citizens have a special Thanksgiving celebration.

Eight Metro Council members will host the annual Willie B. Bright Thanksgiving Dinner on November 23rd.

“Mr. Willie Bright loved this community and he would want to make sure everyone had a chance to be around friends and family for the holiday,” says Councilman David Tandy (D) 4. “So, I am happy to make sure that tradition continues.”

Joining Tandy (4) in hosting the dinner are Leonard Watkins (D) 1, Barbara Shanklin (D) 2, Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3, Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5, George Unseld (D) 6, George Melton (D) 15, and Dan Johnson (D) 21.

PRIDE also a sponsor of the free dinner for persons age 65 and older. It will get under way at the Presbyterian Community Center, 701 S. Hancock Street from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

Free transportation will be provided from low income senior housing facilities in the Metro area who would like to attend the dinner.
