Louisville – There is one place that showcases the wide range of tastes found in one familiar area of Metro Louisville and at the same time helps the programs of South Louisville Community Ministries.
Several Metro Council members and businesses are joining together to support the Second Annual Taste of South Louisville on Saturday, September 10, from 6pm – 8pm at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, 6105 South Third Street.
“This is a great event for such a good cause and I hope people will come out and support a group dedicated to helping those in need,” says Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21).
Johnson along with Council members Marianne Butler (D-15), Rick Blackwell (D-12), Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) and David Yates (D-25) are sponsoring the event.
“This is a chance to taste how good the food is at many of our restaurants and thank them for their participation in helping the mission of the Ministries,” says Butler.
Rubbies, Jimbo’s Barbeque, Tuscany, Vietnam Kitchen, Shack in the Back, Flavor Catering, Havana Rumba, El Nopal, Chick Fil A, and more will provide samples for attendees to taste.
A Silent Auction will raise additional funds! Items have been donated from the following : University of Louisville Athletics’ department, Bellarmine University, DeSales High School, Brown Forman, Holiday World, Kentucky Derby Museum, Mega Cavern, Comfort Inn/Pirate’s Bay, Paul Mitchell, Sister Bean, The Louisville Bats, Frazier History Museum, Noah’s Ark Winery, and many more.
“The Ministries help so many during the year! It is wonderful to see the community coming together to raise the funds they need,” says Welch.
“Come on and taste some great food and learn more about the work of the South Louisville Ministries,” says Blackwell. “It will be a wonderful evening.”
“There are many dedicated people and volunteers in all of Metro Louisville’s Community Ministries and this is a great way to say thank you for their hard work and dedication,” says Yates.

Tickets are available at the door, many local churches and the offices of the South Louisville Community Ministries, 4803 Southside Drive. Admission prices are $12 for a single ticket, $20 per couple. For More information, contact Jim Laemmle, 361-7763.
