At Thursday nights’ Metro Council Meeting, Councilman Dan Johnson announced the allocation of 10,000 from his Neighborhood Funds to be directed to South Louisville Community Ministries for their Meals on Wheels Program.
South Louisville Community Ministries operates the Meals on Wheels Program serving seniors citizens in the south end. That program provides a hot meal daily to frail elderly residents. Even through the week of power outages and blocked streets South Louisville Community Ministries and their volunteers only missed 2 days delivering the meals to residents that had no way to get to food from outside their homes.
“The Meals on Wheels Program is the difference between life and death for some of our most elderly residents” said Dan Johnson “and we are lucky to have South Louisville Community Ministries and their volunteers. This funding will not only help them recover from any losses due to Hurricane Ike, but will also strengthen their services for the rest of the year. ”
