Councilman Ken Fleming (District 7) and Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (District 9) have filed an ordinance requesting a report on government programs and services and costs associated with their delivery. The purpose of this ordinance is to gain a more clear understanding of the complete costs associated with Metro government’s delivery of services. This report could serve as a tool for both the executive and legislative branches as they evaluate all options available to government Metro government in future budgets.
“As a businessman, I have worked hard to bring best practices to the council. This ordinance is instrumental in beginning a needed conversation other communities have been having for over a decade: What is government’s role – and are we adequately providing services to our constituents in the most efficient and effective manner.”
- Councilman Ken Fleming
“It is my hope that this process will give the Administration and the Metro Council who are responsible for the public’s money, some insight as to what is available from all sectors when delivering services,”
– Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh
This proposed ordinance (O-33-02-07) is modeled after successful programs employed by other cities and states. The successful completion and implementation of this type of program has led to significant savings and improved services in those communities.
