Louisville – With Summer just around the corner, the Highlands area is kicking off a new event designed to get people out and about to enjoy something as beautiful as the season: art.
The first ever Highlands Douglass Art show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 3rd & 4th. The event is sponsored by the Highlands Douglass Neighborhood Association.
“This is another way to showcase what is unique about our city,” says Councilman Tom Owen (D) 8.
The show, which is a juried art show by the Louisville Visual Arts Association, will feature over 50 local and regional artists as well as live music and food..
“The Association would like to see this become an annual event and hopes for success in a city with many art shows,” says Jim Kay, president of the Highlands Douglass Neighborhood Association.
The show will benefit the neighborhood through beautification projects and improvements to the community Center planned by the association.
“This is a good opportunity for those who haven’t had the chance, to come out and see the Highlands,” says Owen.
The events hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday and 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday. The event will be held at the Douglass Park/Community Center 2301 Douglass Blvd.
