The officers of the Fifth Division’s Louisville Metro Police are inviting everyone to come out to a historic location to learn more about the 28th Annual National Night Out on August 2nd.
Three members of the Louisville Metro Council are partnering with the Division in an effort to keep the community safe.
“We are fortunate to have such a dedicated team of officers in this division,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9). “National Night Out is a way to learn more about how they do their jobs protecting us and what we can do to help them.”
Ward-Pugh, Councilman Tom Owen (D-8) and President Jim King (D-10) are sponsors of this year’s event.
“If you want to know what Metro Police officers are doing in your neighborhood, this is a chance not only to learn about crime prevention but to talk with the men and women who patrol our streets,” says Owen.
The 5th Division and the 5th Division Advisory Board have invited neighborhood groups, community groups and businesses within the 5th Division to participate in this year’s event. There will be information displays including crime prevention and child ID’s.
There will be activities for the kids as well as food, refreshments, music and Trolley rides provided by TARC Trolley.
“National Night Out began as an effort to rally neighborhoods to fight crime by working hand in hand with our police,” says Ward-Pugh. “That goal is just as important today as it was 28 years ago.”
The Peterson Dumesnil House is located at 301 South Peterson Avenue. National Night Out will last from 6:00pm-9:00pm
