Neighborhood Place helps to offer Back to School events in August

Neighborhood Place locations in Louisville will help to offer free, valuable events in August including four back to school events, an employment and resource fair and an educational baby shower. Aug. 4, Back to School Bash at Farnsley Middle School, 9 – 11 a.m.

Free school supplies and free school physicals will be offered and inflatables for the kids.  Sponsored by Shively Area Ministries in partnership with Cane Run Neighborhood Place, Gutermuth, Wellington, Millcreek, Kerrick and Health Promotion Schools of Excellence with support by Metro Council representatives.
Aug. 9, Northwest Neighborhood Place Back to School Fair, 2 – 4 p.m.
Located at 4108 Market St. Call 485-7230 for more information.  Free school supplies and backpacks will be distributed (while supplies last), raffle prizes and book giveaways, a vendors plaza filled with academic and community resources, and a JCPS Informational Center.
Sponsored by Jefferson County Public SchoolsPublic Schools, Service for Peace and Northwest Neighborhood Place. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Aug. 11, First Neighborhood Place Back to School Fest 2012, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Located at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 1501 Rangeland Rd. Call 485-3889 for more information.  Enjoy this community resource fair with free school supplies and lots of music and fun!
Aug. 15, South Central Neighborhood Place Back to School Event, 2-4 p.m.
Located at 4255 Hazelwood Ave. Call 485-7130 for more information.  This event offers free school supplies, door prizes, giveaways and booths including the Louisville Free Public Library, Small Smiles, Bike Sense and many more! Offered in partnership with South Central Neighborhood Place, Hazelwood Elementary and Kenwood Elementary Schools.
Aug. 23, Employment/Resource Fair at Southwick Community Center, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Ujima Neighborhood Place and several community partners are pleased to offer this fair designed specifically for job seekers who may have gaps in employment, a criminal history or who may not have received a GED or high school diploma.
Aug. 28, A Healthy Journey for Two Educational Baby Shower at 810 Neighborhood Place, 2- 4 p.m.

Seven Counties and KIDSNow will be hosting this educational baby shower to share information on how to care for yourself and your baby while being pregnant. Participants will receive a baby tote bag filled with goodies.
