Studio2000 Summer Art Sale
Thursday August 6, 2009
The annual Studio2000 Summer Art Sale will take place on Friday, August 7 during August’s First Friday Trolley Hop at St. John’s United Church of Christ’s Parish Hall, located at 637 East Market (corner of Clay and Market) from 4 to 8 p.m. Studio2000 is the Louisville Metro Office of Youth Development’s summer art program.
The Office of Youth Development created Studio2000 to connect teens that have a passion for art with professional artists. The initiative is modeled after a similar program in Chicago. Since its inception, Studio2000 teachers have provided artistic and career direction to more than 350 high school students. This year’s master artist is Steve Hammer who has been with the program for several years and is an art teacher with St. Patrick’s School.
Prices range from $10 to $300 and there will be a silent auction. Mediums include ceramics, pottery, paintings, prints, drawings, fiber art and more. The sale includes about 70 new pieces from the summer program and work from previous years. Proceeds benefit Studio2000 and are reinvested in art supplies and educational materials.
