A talent show, music in the park, arts and crafts booths and balloon glow will kick off this year’s Newburg Festival, which begins tonight at 6 p.m. and runs through Sunday evening. The festival will take place at Newburg Park, at the corner of Indian Trail and Exeter Avenue.
Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White will be the head server at the Community Breakfast, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Newburg Middle School, according to Second District Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin, a sponsor and organizer of the event. Other Saturday events include a community parade following the breakfast; tennis and softball tournaments; and little league football. A jazz concert in Newburg Park, which begins at 8 p.m., will wrap up that day’s events.
The festival will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, and will include a senior citizen luncheon at 2 p.m. at Peace Presbyterian Church, 4210 E. Indian Trail; Music in the Metro concert featuring local artist Tanita Gaines from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and a gospel festival from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Both concerts will be held at the park.
