Those who come out to the 81st annual Fairdale Community Fair this weekend have a chance to learn more about living a healthy lifestyle. Once again, Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch is sponsoring the District 13 Health Expo on Saturday, September 17th.

The best things about the Health Expo: it’s free.

“Every year we try to make information available to people who may not have the time to be tested for simple things that can prevent a health problem,” says Welch. “I and twenty healthcare organizations are ready to provide free screenings and information as a way to help people learn how to be healthier.”

The District 13 Health Expo will be held at the Fairdale Elementary School from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Among the exhibits offered will be free health information and screenings for the following: BP and Body Mass Index Check, Blood Glucose Tests, Vision/Eye screenings, and a giant Walk-thru Colon Exhibit.

“The Expo will also have something new this year which is a “Reveal Imager” for face scans to show sun damage and aging,” says Welch. “Too often people do not realize what routine exposure to the sun can do without sunscreen or sun block.”

Councilwoman Welch would like to thank these agencies for participating at the Health Expo: Jewish Hospital/ St. Mary’s healthcare, Family Health Center- Fairdale, the Fairdale Lions Club, Alliance Chiropractic, the Department of Public Health and Wellness, and The Louisville Water Co., The Colon Cancer Prevention Project, Lung Cancer Alliance, Second Chance at Life, KIPDA, TOPPS, Gilda’s Club, KY Cancer Program, PACS –NOW, Friends of Cancer Survivors and American Red Cross Bloodmobile.

“This weekend, everyone should take the time to come out and enjoy the Fairdale Community Fair,” says Welch. “While you are there take the time to do something for yourself and your family. Take advantage of the information these dedicated healthcare professionals are offering.”
