Councilwoman Attica Scott will go door to door in neighborhoods of District 1 this week to remind residents of the importance of crime prevention and share steps to protect themselves from burglary. She will be joined by officers from the 2nd Division of Louisville Metro Police.
“Recently, I had an encounter with crime and it is important to remember the need for identifying property like computers, TV’s, Ipods and anything of value,” says Scott. “LMPD officers are ready to help anyone by providing the tools necessary to protect their valuables.”
Scott and officers will be walking in the area of Dumesnil and Greenwood on Thursday night from 26th to 32nd Street. They will meet at the 2nd Division at 6:00pm and then go door to door handing out information letting residents know of a police engraving program available for any household to number and mark valuable property.
“This program will allow a homeowner to borrow an engraving tool for up to two weeks or they can bring valuables in to the 2nd Division and officers there will ID the property for them,” says Scott.
The 2nd Division is located at 3419 Bohne Avenue. Or residents can call 574-2478 to learn more or schedule an ID time.
“We will be carrying this message throughout District 1,” says Scott. “No one should be a victim of crime and the LMPD is ready to keep you from becoming a victim.”
