Ward-Pugh to honor Pride of Kentucky Chorus Thursday

Wednesday December 2, 2009

For Immediate release:
Louisville Metro Council
Contact: Tony Hyatt 574-4137/526-3622

Thursday’s Metro Council meeting will be a special treat for those who love to hear the beautiful harmony of the Sweet Adelines. In this case, the Pride of Kentucky Chorus will be the guests of Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9).

“It is not very often we get a chance to hear some very accomplished women singers who are International Champions,” says Ward-Pugh. “It’s an honor to have them sing for us.”

The Pride of Kentucky Chorus is celebrating its 25th year as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. Sweet Adelines is a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of four part, a cappella barbershop harmony through education and performances.

“This group captured the 3rd place bronze medal during the 2009 Sweet Adelines International Competition in Nashville during November,” says Ward-Pugh. “As regional champions they competed with 36 other regional groups.”

The 50 member Pride of Kentucky Chorus will set a holiday tone for the Metro Council by singing “Winter Wonderland” and “I Love Jazz” which is a song they sang during competition.

The Metro Council meeting will begin at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 3rd. It is broadcast live on Metro TV and is video streamed at the Metro Council’s web page at
