Mayor Fischer Adds Newsletter to Inform Citizens

Wednesday October 10, 2012

Weekly update joins social media, LouieStat,
meetings as ways to connect

As part of his ongoing effort to inform and engage citizens, Mayor Greg Fischer has launched a new weekly update to keep citizens informed of what’s happening in city government. The “Weekly Update” will be sent each Thursday to people who sign up for it as well as all Metro Government employees.

“My administration has worked hard to communicate directly to people about city government, how it works, how to access services and how we can do a better job,” Fischer said. “A weekly update of key news and initiatives is another simple way to keep citizens and employees in the loop.”

The weekly newsletter will contain photos, news clips and highlights of the mayor’s schedule for the week ahead.

People can sign up to receive the mayor’s weekly update at: www.louisvilleky.gov/Mayor.

In addition to the weekly newsletter, Fischer connects with citizens in person at his regular “Talk to Greg” meetings around the city as well as virtual online conversations on social media. Fischer and his technology team have also worked hard to bring information and services to citizens on the city’s public website, www.louisvilleky.gov. One recent addition to the website is the LouieStat portal. Short for Louisville Statistics, the site lets people track the performance of various city departments at www.louiestat.louisvilleky.gov/.

The city’s website was recently named the top city government website in the U.S. by the Center for Digital Government.
