Louisville, KY—
A common concern among young adults and teenagers is that they do not have a voice to offer their opinions and discuss their concerns about various topics impacting today’s society.

In response to this concern, Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) is teaming up with Praise Power 1350 WLOU/ New Praise 104.7 to offer a new radio program called “Speakerphone”.

The radio show, to be aired live on location from different places around the Newburg area will be moderated by WLOU Mid- Day Radio Personality Krystal " Ms. Krystal" Goodner and feature the: voices, concerns, ideas and viewpoints of Newburg's children, teenagers and young adults.

On "Speakerphone" the youth will finally have a medium to put their thoughts and concerns on front street, or "speakerphone" for the city to hear. This show will also give adults insight into the challenges facing our young people.

“I am very excited to be able to bring this radio show to the communities in and around Newburg,” says Shanklin. “As I speak to young people in my district, a recurring theme is that they feel like they do not have a voice to speak up about various issues impacting them. I think this show will give them that voice and as adults, we must listen to what they say and be prepared to act on their concerns.”

This weekly one hour program will air every Saturday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. On Praise Power 1350 WLOU/ New Praise 104.7 beginning June 30- Aug 25th.
