Governor Fletcher, Mayor Abramson to Meet with Ford Executives in Detroit

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher, Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Gene Strong, Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, and Greater Louisville Inc. President and CEO Joe Reagan will travel this morning to meet with Ford executives in Detroit, Mich. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss Ford’s restructuring plans for the plants in Louisville.
“Ford has been and will continue to be one of Kentucky’s most valued corporate citizens,” said Governor Fletcher.” We want to make sure the state and city does everything possible to protect the jobs and investment Ford has made in Kentucky. Today’s meeting will allow us to talk face to face with Ford executives about the future of Ford Motor Company in Louisville.”
“Ford is making tough decisions about its operations around the globe,” said Mayor Abramson. “We look forward to talking face-to-face with Ford’s top leaders about how Louisville, Kentucky can be part of the company’s future.”
The delegation’s estimated time of return to Louisville is between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The delegation will be available for brief comments to the media upon their return to Louisville. Media should gather at Atlantic Aviation’s conference room, located at 1131 Standiford Avenue. Media will not be allowed on the secured ramp/apron area.
