Yard Waste, Recycling Pickup Delayed by One Day Thursday and Friday
Thursday May 20, 2010
Normal pickup schedule resumes Monday, May 24
Residential pickup of yard waste and recycling will be delayed by one day on Thursday, May 20 and Friday, May 21 according to Louisville Metro Division of Solid Waste Management.
Residents whose regular pickup day was Thursday, May 20 will receive pickup on Friday, May 21. Residents who normally put yard waste or recycling out on Friday, will receive pickup this Saturday.
Normal collection service will resume on Monday, May 24.
The delay is due to grief counseling sessions the city is providing in the wake of the accidental death on Wednesday of Solid Waste Management employee, Darlene Brown.
“We apologize to our citizens for this inconvenience, but we are a family and we need to take the needs of our employees into consideration during this very difficult time,” said Keith Hackett, director of Solid Waste Management.
Earlier today, Mayor Jerry Abramson directed all city flags to be flown at half staff until further notice.
